Early Preschool Insights
Dear parents,
We had such a fun week. Even though we say goodbye to our friend Andrew last week, we are so happy welcomed a new friend Jece this week. We are excited to get to know him more.
We started a new project called 'Ocean and beach center' its a work in progress. the children have a long list of plans for the center and it still keeps coming. On this note we kindly ask you to lend or donate some Swimming suits, Goggles, Sun Glasses, Sandals, and sunscreen that you run out of or not in use anymore we would love to have it to set up the center.
We are proud to announce that next Friday (Dec7) will be the grand opening of our bookstore! You are all invited to come and celebrate the success of our Authors!
Large groups
Our large groups this week were mostly focused on making social bonds between kids and teachers. We are consistently talking about how to talk respectfully. We are using words like 'Please' and 'Thank you' frequently throughout the day.
As a part of our large group we also enjoyed talking about the messages on our board. The messages can be anything. But mostly it co-relates with the small group activities we do for that day or current activities that had happened or meant to happen around the school.
We also continued singing songs, reading books. Our favorite song was the 'Frozen song' and our favorite book was ‘Giraffes that can’t dance’
Small group
Math - Our math activity this week about counting with one on one correspondence with seeds and numbered paper plates. So what we do basically was we gave out a numbered cupcakes papers and thongs to see if they can count the seeds and put them in the right numbered cupcake papers. We worked so hard to put the seeds in the right papers. And whenever we had difficulties we problem solve along the way together.
Science – last week we investigated changes on our plants we gathered form the garden. Some of the suggestions from our investigation were to put some of the dry plants in the water. So we soaked them in water and put them in our class. So this week we investigated the changes between dry leaves; leaves under the water and leaves out on the garden. The observations were fascinating!
Literacy – we started to identify the differences between letters and numbers. So on our literacy activity, we focused on identifying letters and talked based on their shapes. We matched 3D letters and print out letters and had an interesting conversation about their similarities and differences.
