A week of laughter , love and learning in Early Preschool and preschool!
Dear parents,
We had a wonderful week in Early Preschool and Preschool, and we hope your week was just as great! Please enjoy reading the highlights of our week.
Large group
In our most recent large group sessions, we had an engaging time learning and practicing various important skills! We began the day with a fun counting activity where each child took turns counting from 1 to 10. It was wonderful to see everyone eagerly participating and practicing their numbers with such enthusiasm. Next, we sang our beloved Good Morning song. It’s always a highlight in our classroom and a great way to start the day on a positive and cheerful note. After that, we did our attendance by having each student stand up and place their picture on the "Happy Picture" board. It’s a lovely routine that helps the children feel connected and excited to be in class.
We then discussed the weather and talked about the days of the week. This routine helps the children understand the passage of time and the world around them, and they eagerly shared their thoughts on the day’s weather. To wrap up our large group time, we read an engaging book called “Sport day”. The children were captivated by the colorful illustrations and exciting stories about different games, rules, and types of balls. The interactive read helped the kids learn the importance of teamwork and following rules in games.
Small group
Art
This week in our art session, we explored the creative technique of blow painting! We began by preparing a new straw for each student and giving them a sheet of their favorite colored paper. Then, we added different paints to the paper, and the children used the straws to blow the paint across the page, creating fun, colorful designs. The kids had a blast experimenting with the movement of the paint, and each artwork turned out to be unique and full of energy. It was a wonderful session of creativity and fun!
Math
In this week's math session, the kids had a blast exploring different concepts of measurement! They compared objects like wooden blocks and soft blocks, measured the length of long and short books with rulers, and identified big and small toys. The children participated enthusiastically, learning about size, weight, and length. For the final activity, we measured each student's height using ribbons, and then stuck their pictures next to their measurements. It was a fun and interactive way for the kids to grasp measurement concepts while enjoying hands-on learning! We are so proud of our mathematicians.
Literacy
In this week’s literacy session, we encouraged our students to explore their creativity by journaling. Using their personal journal books and colorful crayons, they were given the freedom to draw anything that sparked their imagination. Whether it was a favorite memory, a dream, or simply something they love, the students filled their pages with vibrant drawings. This activity not only helped them express themselves visually but also reinforced the connection between creativity and language, enhancing their writing skills for future sessions. Moreover, it’s a great way for us to better understand their personalities and the things that interest them. It was a wonderful way to engage them in a fun and meaningful way while nurturing their love for both art and literacy.
Science
In our science session, we had a blast experimenting with the concepts of sinking and floating! We filled a basket with water and tested various objects to see which would float and which would sink.
The materials we tested included leaves, paper, cotton, stones, lava rocks, sticks, playing toys, empty plastic bottles, sponges, wooden blocks, magnets, and plastic bottles filled with water. As we placed each object in the water, we observed how some floated while others sank. Lighter items like leaves, cotton, and paper floated, while heavier items like stones, lava rocks, and magnets sank.
We were also fascinated by how sponges floated initially but sank as they absorbed water. Empty plastic bottles floated, but once filled with water, they sank. This hands-on activity helped us understand the science of buoyancy and how the density of an object affects whether it floats or sinks. It was a fun and engaging way to learn basic science concepts!
Gymnastics
Today’s gymnastics session was filled with energy, excitement, and fun as we focused on keeping our bodies active and engaged. We kicked off the session with some essential stretching exercises to warm up our muscles and increase flexibility. The students worked together, stretching their arms, legs, and backs, making sure they were ready for the next steps.
Then, it was time to head outside for soccer activity. Every student had a chance to kick the ball toward the goal, with the goal of scoring as many points as possible. The excitement in the air was contagious as everyone cheered each other on, and it was great to see how active and happy the students were while participating. By the end of the session, everyone was smiling, feeling accomplished, and more energized.
