A Week of Learning, Laughter, and Lots of Fun!
Dear parents, hope you've had an amazing week as fun as ours. As we wrap up our second week of the academic year, we are thrilled to share just how smoothly and joyfully things have been going in our kindergarten class. From engaging group activities to exciting experiments, fun large group activities, to reading books in groups, cutting and pasting, an ice melting experiment, helping our class caterpillar, and learning new songs, our little ones have truly embraced the spirit of learning.
Language and Literacy
This week, we introduced some catchy and fun songs that have quickly become favorites among the kids. Songs like “Ram Sam Sam,” “Wash Your Hands,” “One, Two, Buckle My Shoe,” and “Chu Chu Wa” have not only entertained but also enriched their vocabulary and sentence structure. We also focused on name recognition by letting the children color their names while learning the letters. During story time, one of our students took the lead in reading, which was a proud moment for us all!
Math
In our math sessions, we had a blast with Jack Hartman's “Let’s Get Fit” song, counting to 100 by ones. The kids loved moving and counting together! We also introduced shape tracing, encouraging them to recognize different shapes. The following day, we played a fun game called “Shape Hunt,” where we hid colorful shapes around the classroom for them to find and count. Their excitement was evident as they searched high and low!
Science
Our science activity this week was a huge hit! The “Ice Melting” experiment allowed the children to sprinkle salt on ice and brush it around with paintbrushes, all while enjoying the beautiful sunny weather outside and the slime they made using cornstarch and water was a great experience. We also explored our five senses—feeling, smelling, seeing, listening, and tasting—making it an engaging experience for everyone.
Art
Art has been nothing but fun this week. As some of the class activities also ask for creativity, they've been having fun with coloring, brushing, cutting and pasting, and a tiger craft. They've enjoyed the art session so much as it was also very helpful for their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
