A Week of Wonders and Adventures in Early Preschool and Preschool!

Dear Parents,

We had an amazing week in Early Preschool and Preschool, and we hope yours was lovely as well! Last Thursday, we celebrated Damera, a cherished LE tradition, and it was a wonderful experience for everyone involved.

On behalf of the entire team, we sincerely thank you for attending and sharing that beautiful day with us. Your presence made the celebration even more special, and we appreciate your support in creating lasting memories for our children.

Large Group

This week in our large group sessions, we kicked off our mornings with our cheerful "Good Morning" song, followed by our students' favorite, "Move Your Body to the Left". It was a great way to energize everyone!

We then explored the days of the week, discussing what activities we would do each day. The children showed great enthusiasm as we talked about the weather, helping them connect their experiences to what we learned.

For our message board, we took attendance and celebrated everyone's presence. This week, we also delved into the Zoophonics letters A-C. The students participated actively, showing curiosity and excitement about the animals and sounds associated with each letter.

Art

In our art session, our students had a wonderful time exploring their creativity in the studio. Each child chose their favorite paper and colors, allowing their imagination to run wild.

Nyikko  "This is my mommy"

Naod "Look this is my big car"

Shi Yi  "A  big house"

Library

This week in our library session, we had the pleasure of reading "Things I Like," a delightful book that explores the various interests of its main character. The children were fully engaged, listening attentively as we discussed the character's favorite activities and hobbies. This story provided a wonderful opportunity for the kids to reflect on their own likes and interests. After our reading, we encouraged them to share what they enjoy doing, fostering a sense of community and connection among the group. At the end of the session, each child had the chance to choose a book to take home.

Cooperative Game

This week’s cooperative game brought so much joy and teamwork to our group! The activity, which was our balancing ball game, was the highlight of the week. This activity was not only entertaining but also a great way to foster concentration and collaboration among the participants.

Before diving into the fun, we gathered everyone to explain the rules of the game. Each child received a piece of paper and a small plastic ball. The objective was simple: walk while balancing the ball on the paper and successfully drop it into a basket at the end of the path.

Watching the children carefully navigate their way while focusing on keeping the ball steady was truly a sight to behold. Their determination was inspiring as they moved slowly, adjusting their steps to maintain balance. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and encouragement, as each child attempted to complete the challenge individually first. After everyone had a chance to try it alone, we encouraged them to partner up and help each other. It was wonderful to see the teamwork in action—children cheering each other on, sharing tips, and celebrating each other's successes.

Ethiopian Center

This week at the Ethiopian Center, we had an exciting and culturally rich experience as our students prepared for the upcoming Damera celebration. We practiced the beautiful song "Abebayehush," which the students were eager to perform during the festivities. Their enthusiasm and dedication were truly inspiring!

In addition to rehearsing, the students explored various traditional Ethiopian musical instruments. They had hands-on experiences with the krar, drum, and masinko, learning about their unique sounds and the roles they play in Ethiopian music. This exploration helped deepen their appreciation for our rich musical heritage.

Overall, it was a wonderful week and we can’t wait to see what the coming days have in store for us!
