A Week of Wonders in Early Preschool and Preschool!

 Dear parents,

We had a great week in Early Preschool and Preschool, and we hope yours was equally wonderful. Please enjoy reading the highlights of our week.

Large group

Our large group is when the whole class comes together for a fun and engaging start to the day. We kick things off with our cheerful "Good Morning" song, setting a positive tone for the day ahead. After singing, we take attendance and ensure everyone is present and ready to participate. Next, we discuss the weather and the events of the day, allowing the children to connect with the world around them. It's always exciting to hear their thoughts on whether it's sunny, rainy, or cloudy, and they eagerly share their observations.

This week, our message board focused on domestic animals. The children were thrilled to learn about different animals like horses, cats, dogs, donkeys, sheep, cows, hens, and turtles. They were actively engaged, asking questions and sharing what they know. It's amazing to see how curious and enthusiastic they are about learning!

Small group

Art

Our recent art session was filled with creativity and excitement as we introduced the unique technique of balloon painting! To start, we prepared different colorful paints for the students, each carefully chosen to create vibrant artwork. The students then placed balloons dipped in paint onto sheets of paper. As they gently rolled and bounced the balloons, they watched in awe as the paint left beautiful, abstract patterns on the paper.

This fun and interactive session allowed our students to explore new ways of painting, encouraging both imagination and hands-on experimentation. The result? Stunning pieces of art that were as fun to create as they were to admire! Balloon painting is a fantastic way to make art both playful and memorable, and we can't wait to see what our students come up with next time!

Math

In our math session, we had a fun and interactive activity called the "Colorful Shape Hunt". We started by discussing different shapes with the students, such as circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, and ovals. After learning about each shape, we moved to the grass area, where we had hidden various colorful shapes for the children to find. The excitement was palpable as the children searched high and low, discovering each shape one by one. As they found them, they eagerly named the shapes and placed them in their basket. The activity was a wonderful way to engage the kids in both learning and physical activity, and they were so active throughout the hunt! It was a great session that combined fun with valuable learning moments.

Literacy

This week in our literary session, we encouraged our students to explore their creativity and express themselves freely through journaling. The goal was to give them the space to draw whatever came to mind, allowing their imaginations to take flight. The results were wonderful and gave us a glimpse into the world of each young artist.

Gigi, one of our students, filled her journal with a heartfelt drawing of her family. She shared, “I drew my dad, mom, and Mercy,” showcasing her deep connection to those around her.

Noam, on the other hand, took a more adventurous route with his journal. He drew a helicopter, perhaps reflecting his fascination with machines or flying.

Keziah, always one to explore shapes and patterns, chose to draw a simple but intriguing combination of a circle and triangle.

It’s moments like these that make our literary sessions so special. Journaling not only allows students to express themselves creatively, but it also opens the door to deeper conversations and connections. We can’t wait to see what our students will create in the upcoming sessions!

Science

In our science session, we explored the fascinating concept of ice and how it forms. We turned the lesson into an exciting hands-on activity where the children got to make their own colorful ice creations! We started by discussing how ice is made and its solid-state properties. Then, we added a fun twist—color! We gave each child a cup of water and a selection of food colors. They mixed their favorite colors into the water, turning it into vibrant, colorful mixtures. Next, the children poured their colored water into ice makers and carefully added a stick to each one, which would help hold the ice once it froze. After preparing their ice, we placed the trays in the freezer to let the water solidify into beautiful, colorful ice cubes. The children were thrilled with the results, eagerly watching the ice freeze. It was a fun and engaging way for them to learn about the science of ice while enjoying the creative aspect of the activity. The kids participated with great enthusiasm, and it was a memorable and successful session!
