An exciting week in Kindergarten!

Greetings Dear Parents,

How was your week? Our week was impressive. We had so much fun with the kids.

Large Group

In our large group session, we started by singing the "good morning" song. After that, we read a book together and participated in a circle time calendar activity, which helped us improve our social skills.

Science

This week in our science class, we conducted an "Ice Melting Experiment" to determine which material or ingredient would cause an ice cube to melt the fastest. The materials used in the experiment included ice, salt, sugar, and sand.

We divided the kids into three groups and gave each group a plate. We then instructed them to place an ice cube on the plate and cover it with the provided ingredients. After that, we waited for 7 minutes to see which ice cube with the ingredients melted first. Our observation showed that salt melted the ice fastest, followed by sugar and then sand.

In the experiment, the children were highly enthusiastic, and engaging and the enjoyable nature of the activity. Overall, it was a rewarding experience.

Maths

In math class, the students learned about decimal place value. This concept was new to them, as they had never encountered it before. The idea was to assign labels to numbers based on their position. In this particular class, they worked with three-digit numbers and focused on the ones, tens, and hundreds of places. The students then practiced labeling numbers based on their position.

Example: 345 can be labeled or ordered as; 5: ones, 4: tens, 3: hundreds.

For some children, we had them practice tracing numbers from 1 to 30, and then we practiced writing down the numbers they traced.

Language/Literature

This week in our language and literacy class, we focused on teaching the concept of opposite words (antonyms) to help students compare two different words and develop a deeper understanding of specific concepts. Although this was a new concept, the students were delighted to learn about it.

In this experiment, we displayed a list of words on one board and their opposites on another. The children then paired words from both boards, resulting in an enjoyable activity.
