An Exhilarating, Education and Engaging Two Weeks In Infants Class!
Greetings dear parents!
We are thrilled to share all the incredible learning and adventures that have taken place in our infants classroom with our little ones. It had been a wonderful time with enjoyable activities. We are happy to share all the fun things we did together from the past two weeks!
Happy Birthday Maryeza
Large group
We start each day by gathering in a big circle, ready for fun and learning! First, we sing our favorite "Good Morning" song, filling the room with happy voices. Then, it's time for attendance. As soon as the children notice the teacher holding their picture, they jump up with joy and enthusiasm to stick their picture on the happy face. We love to see how proud they are to stick their picture up and to call out the names of their friends as they do the same. When we finish, we count how many friends we have and how many friends are absent. After that, we get our bodies moving by singing a lively rendition of the “head, shoulder, knees and toes” song and we head into our story time. Our recent book of choice has been “Biscuit wants to play”, which the children love.
Gymnastics
Our gymnastics class turned into a climbing challenge! We used a ladder on a mat in the grass area to practice the children’s climbing, strengthening their arms and legs, and improving balance. We learned how to hold on tight, using feet for support. Such activities enhance their strength, coordination, flexibility and balance.
Story time
During our recent story time session, the class enjoyed a magical experience outdoors on the grass. The teachers dressed up as bunnies, creating a delightful surprise for the children. The moment the children saw the "bunnies," their excitement was palpable—they laughed, clapped, and eagerly gathered around.
The story chosen for the day was "Where's the Baby Belly Button?" The “bunny teachers" sat in a cozy circle and began reading aloud, captivating the children with the playful and engaging narrative. As the story unfolded, the children listened attentively, occasionally pointing and giggling at the bunny costumes. When the story ended, the bunny teachers gave each child a high-five and a warm hug, leaving everyone feeling happy and connected.
This interactive and creative storytime fostered joy, engagement, and a love for reading among the children. It was a wonderful experience that the children will surely remember!
Art
In the past two weeks, the children explored shapes in art class. This week, they focused on square stamping using blue paint. They enjoyed stamping squares and learning about shapes while having fun with colors. It was an exciting and creative activity! The class enjoyed both the process and outcome, and we can’t wait to see what they will create next.
Science
This week in science, the children explored frozen animals! First, we prepared toy animals in cups of water and froze them. The next day, we placed the ice blocks on a tray and explained to the children that animals were hidden inside. The children were very excited to start melting and breaking the ice to find the animals. As they discovered them, they told the teachers the names of the animals, showing their curiosity and learning. They also noticed how cold the ice was, saying, "Cold, cold!" The children worked together as a team, helping each other find more animals. It was a fun and engaging activity that encouraged exploration, problem-solving, and teamwork!
Math
In our latest mathematics sessions, we started with a revision on our last week’s shape which was a circle. Then for this week, we introduced the children to square shapes. We prepared a large square piece of paper on the wall and many smaller squares of blue colored paper. We learned to recognize what makes a shape a square (four equal sides and four square corners). Then, we practiced our fine motor skills by carefully sticking the smaller squares onto the big square, one at a time. It was a great way to learn about shapes and practice our counting skills!
Ethiopian Center
This week in the Ethiopian center, the children had an exciting time making injera, Ethiopia's most commonly consumed traditional food. They started by mixing flour and water together, learning to stir it well. One by one, they took turns pouring the batter onto the mitad (injera pan) to make their own injera.
The children were very engaged and waited patiently for their turn. They were excited to see how injera is made and proud of their work. It was a fun and meaningful activity that helped them learn about Ethiopian culture!
