Toddlers Class These Two Weeks

A week of Learning and Fun in the Toddlers Class!

Large Group

During our recent large group sessions, we decided to take the learning experience outside the classroom. We set up mats and our whiteboard in the sunshine, and the children were really happy. The beautiful weather added to the excitement and enjoyment of the day.

We started the session with our traditional good morning song, followed by taking attendance. Next, we read the book "Clifford’s First Day of School", which sparked engaging discussions about the story. We then explored the whiteboard, which featured various materials and red-colored fruits. This tied into our two-week focus on the color red, which had been integrated into our math sessions.

Gymnastics

In our gymnastics session, we concentrated on practicing a fundamental skill: walking on the beam. We began by demonstrating the technique to the children, and then each child had a turn to try it out.

Some kids showed great focus and walked with confidence, while others needed a bit more assistance and encouragement. To further develop their gross motor skills, we incorporated a variety of activities and games, making the session both fun and beneficial.

Math

In our recent math session, we focused on the color red. We placed various red materials around the area and then took the activity outside. The children were excited as they collected red items and placed them into a red basket. The activity was engaging and fun, with the kids eagerly running around, helping each other, and enjoying the hands-on experience.

Science

In our recent science session, we explored mixing water with red food coloring. We started by moving outside the classroom and setting up art smocks. With water in a bucket and bowls on the table, the children took turns pouring water into the bowls.

We then asked them to guess the color of the food coloring. They guessed various colors like green and purple, but a few correctly identified it as red. Once we mixed the food coloring with the water, the kids were thrilled to see the vibrant red color and eagerly exclaimed, "It is red!" After the experiment, we removed our art smocks and recapped the fun and engaging activity.

Literacy

In our recent literacy session, the children engaged in a matching activity where they paired fruit toys with pictures of the corresponding fruits. This activity provided valuable insights into their development. Most of the kids successfully matched the toys by naming the fruits, showcasing their growing communication skills. The session was not only amazing but also highlighted the children’s ability to help each other and collaborate effectively.

Art

Our art session began with an introduction to the day's activity: decorating an apple drawing with red paper. We started by sitting in a circle and cutting red paper into small pieces. Then, each child received a white sheet with an apple drawing on it. They applied glue to the apple and placed the red paper pieces onto it. This activity not only engaged them creatively but also helped the teacher assess their fine motor skills.

Library

Our library session began with the teacher reading a book to the children. After the story, we arranged a variety of books in a circle. The children took turns selecting a book from the circle. At the end of the session, each child chose a book to take home and read with their family.
