Large Group
This week’s large group sessions were packed with fun and learning! We focused on the letter “i” practicing its sound and exploring words that start with it. During morning messages, the class had a blast spotting 3D shapes they’ve learned, strengthening both their shape recognition and fine motor skills.
In math, we introduced the number “10” through interactive counting games and hands-on activities. The children also investigated the cylinder, discovering how it can roll and identifying its two circular faces—connecting geometry to real-world objects!
It was a week full of teamwork, laughter, and growth and we can’t wait for more learning adventures ahead!
Math
This week, our math session with the little ones was nothing short of exciting and engaging. The children were asked to pick their favorite number from 1 to 20, and what followed was a fun-filled counting activity that not only sharpened their math skills but also provided an opportunity for them to showcase their creativity. As the children enthusiastically chose their favorite numbers, they were then tasked with counting objects to match the number they had selected. With a little guidance, the children diligently counted the objects, one by one, ensuring that the quantity perfectly matched the number they had chosen. As they placed the objects in neat rows and columns, it was heartwarming to see their faces light up with a sense of accomplishment.
At the end of the session, it was clear that the math session had been a resounding success. Through a simple yet engaging activity, the children had embraced the world of numbers with enthusiasm and joy, setting the stage for many more math adventures to come.
Music
Children are often described as sponges, soaking up knowledge and skills from their surroundings at a rapid pace. As the music session began, the children were given the opportunity to explore an array of musical instruments, ranging from the classical piano to the vibrant shakers. The children eagerly selected their instrument of choice, each curating their own unique melody and rhythm. The sound of laughter and enthusiasm filled the room as the children practiced diligently, fine-tuning their skills and embracing the joy of music.
The music session not only provided a platform for the children to showcase their musical abilities but also served as a reminder of the power of creativity and self-expression. Through music, these children were able to communicate their emotions, passions, and dreams, forging a connection that transcends words and touches the hearts of all who listen.
Library
We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire curiosity and ignite imaginations, especially among children! This week, we had the pleasure of witnessing a heartwarming library session where a group of young learners read a storybook titled "Best Friend Forever" along with the teacher and shared their experiences with their friends. As the teacher began to read aloud, the children were captivated by the tale of friendship, loyalty, and adventure. They laughed at the funny moments, gasped at the exciting twists, and empathized with the characters as they navigated through challenges to find their true friends. The story not only entertained them but also taught valuable lessons about kindness, empathy, and the importance of friendship.
After the story was complete, the children excitedly shared their favorite parts and expressed their thoughts and feelings about the characters and the storyline. They discussed the lessons they learned and how they could apply them in their own lives. Their eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as they recounted the memorable moments from the book. Through this library session, the children not only improved their reading and comprehension skills but also developed their communication, critical thinking, and social skills. They learned the importance of sharing stories, connecting with others, and fostering a love for literature. The session was a true celebration of the magic of storytelling and the power of imagination.
Literacy
In this week, the children were engaged in a unique and interactive activity that not only enhanced their letter recognition skills but also showcased their creativity. The session involved matching wooden Zoophonics letters with flashcards, and the results were nothing short of impressive. The children eagerly participated in the activity as they were tasked with matching the colorful wooden Zoophonics letters to corresponding letters on the flashcards.
Overall, the literacy session was a resounding success, thanks to the engaging and interactive nature of the activity. By combining the use of wooden Zoophonics letters with flashcards, the children were able to have fun while learning, making the session both educational and enjoyable for all involved. As the session came to a close, the children left with a newfound sense of pride and accomplishment, eager to continue honing their literacy skills. In conclusion, the matching wooden Zoophonics letters with flashcards activity proved to be a memorable and effective way to enhance children's literacy skills. It was a true testament to the power of hands-on learning and interactive experiences in fostering a love for reading and literacy in young minds.
