Early Pre-K Class on The Last Week of February

Dear parents,

Another month is finished! We are not only counting the days and months that are finished since we started this academic year, but we are also looking at how much your little once have grown and learnt.

Large group: This week we had the number 12, the hexagon shape, and the sound ‘d’. We also reviewed our previous shapes by a game were each child got to pick a shape flash card of the floor, name it and stick it on the board.

“Hexagon” Malachi

“DeeDee dear” Tang Tang

Math: Going on with our measurement topic this week we got the chance to measure the kids’ height on the class wall and put their pictures up next to it. They were so excited comparing each other height.

Cooperative game: We played the musical chairs game. This game helps teach the kids how to follow instructions, count, focusing and listening.

Science: On Wednesday we played a memory game using our vegetables flash cards. For this game we laid all the flash cards on the floor and went through them together, then we flipped them over and asked each child to remember where one of the vegetables was.

Makerspace: On our makerspace session we continued with our project from last time ‘Rectangle’. This week the kids decided that they would paint it, so they chose the colors and did so.

“I want red” Julia

“I want green” Mitsuki

“This is a rainbow rectangle” Solomon

Literacy: We continued with the same rhyming words from last week ‘cat, hat, mat, rat, sat, bat’. This week the kids were able to understand the concept of rhyming more and also read more words.

Library: On Thursday we read a story book under the title “The Very Busy Spider”. This book is about a spider who was very busy spinning her web, although a lot of animals asked her to do different things with them, but she didn’t give them any answer and kept spinning till she finished the web and slept at night!

“The spider is busy” Solomon

“Big spider” Hongyu

Art: After finishing the blue background for the volcano canvas last week This week, we painted the volcano itself and the lava coming out of it. We also got the chance to make a volcano experiment where we built the mountain using clay then for the lava we used baking soda, orange and red food coloring and vinegar. The kids were so excited to see the lava coming out!

“I Make this with my mom at home” Leo

“The vinegar looks like water” Noam
