Early Preschool Educational Endeavors This Week!
Dear parents,
How was your week? We had an amazing week in Early preschool and Preschool, full of creativity, curiosity, and of course fun! We’re thrilled to share our weekly blog with you so you can see the highlights.
Good bye Shi Yi
Large Group
Our large group sessions were vibrant and full of bonding, as usual. We began by chatting about our morning routines, with the children sharing their favorite breakfast choices. It was wonderful to hear their excitement and personal preferences as they each spoke about what fuels their day. Next, we sang a cheerful Good Morning song, setting a positive tone for the rest of the activities. Everyone joined in with full enthusiasm, ready to participate. After our song, we took attendance, making sure everyone was accounted for, and then we talked about the days of the week. The children were incredibly active in their participation, which is not only heartwarming to see but also helped to reinforce our daily routine and order of tasks. We also discussed the weather for the day and updated our message board, keeping everyone informed about what to expect outside. The children were excited to learn about the weather and share their observations. Finally, we practiced tracing numbers 1 to 5 on the board. It was wonderful to see the kids concentrate and work together as they improved their fine motor skills.
Art
In our recent art session, we had the opportunity to celebrate a very special moment—saying farewell to our dear friend, Shi Yi. To make this occasion even more memorable, we decided to create a beautiful, personalized card for Shi Yi, filled with love and creativity from all the children. We began by preparing the materials and explaining to the students that they would be making a handprint card for their friend. The children were eager and excited as we handed out the cards, and each student had the chance to choose their favorite color for the paint. The room buzzed with energy as the kids carefully picked out the colors they wanted to use for their handprints. Once they had their colors, the children dipped their hands into the paint, and with big smiles, they pressed their painted hands onto the card. Each handprint was unique, adding a personal touch to the card. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged in the activity, working together and contributing to something special for Shi Yi.
Math
In our latest math session, we focused on counting numbers 1 through 10. The students were engaged and enthusiastic as we practiced identifying each number in sequence. To make learning even more interactive, we introduced a hands-on activity where each student was given a worksheet with the numbers 4 and 5. Their task? To stick different seeds on the numbers 4 and 5, creating a fun and tactile way to reinforce their understanding of the numbers. The activity helped the students connect with the numbers in a creative way, and it was clear that everyone was fully focused and enjoying the challenge.
Literacy
Today’s literacy session was filled with energy and excitement as we explored the wonders of Zoophonics from A to Z! Our students were fully engaged as they learned the letter sounds and corresponding motions that go along with each letter. The students were eager to participate, imitating the motions and saying the sounds with enthusiasm. It was amazing to see how well they connected the letter shapes, sounds, and movements, making it easier for them to remember and recognize each letter. The session was not only educational but also a lot of fun, reinforcing the importance of active learning and movement in early literacy development.
Library
During our latest library session, we read the wonderful book Gary and Ray, which quickly captured the students' attention. The bright, engaging pictures in the book were a big hit, and the children were fascinated by the colorful illustrations and the playful characters of Gary and Ray. After enjoying the story, the students eagerly shared their thoughts about the pictures, which sparked great conversations among them. It was clear that the illustrations made the book even more enjoyable for everyone. As the session came to a close, the students were excited to choose their own books to take home.
