Early September Fun with Early Pre-K!
Dear Parents,
We had a fun and engaging week in our class this week. The children enjoyed learning different things through hands-on games and activities. Identifying numbers (1-10) was our math goal, learning about body parts and gaining new vocabulary was our focus in science and in literacy we worked on identifying zoo phonics (a-n) and matching objects to their beginning sound.

Large group:
Our large group is getting more active and engaging as we added more activities and new concepts to it! This week our large group book title was "Cookie's Week”. This book reinforces the days of the week concept as it explains an activity that the cat ‘Cookie’ did each day in the week.
We started the idea of introducing a new letter, number, shape and color each week. So, for this week ‘a’ was our letter, one ‘1’ was our number, circle was the shape and red was the color.
We also began writing morning messages on the board as we believe it is an effective way to practice many skills such as: Language, fine motor skills, math, social skills…. etc.
Through our board message the children learnt there are twelve months in a year, counted how many boys and girls we have in the class and learnt about their day schedule and what is happening next in their day.

Math:
In our Early Pre-K class, we have introduced a fun and interactive activity where children matched wooden numbers to corresponding flashcards featuring numbers one to ten. This hands-on approach allows students to engage with numbers visually and tactilely.
This matching activity not only helped them to identify numbers but also encouraged teamwork as they worked together to finish the matching task.
Science:
For science this week we continued with the body parts topic. We played an enjoyable and interactive game where we flipped ten different flashcards of body parts, then one by one picked a card, said some hints about it and the children gassed which body part it could be.
After we finished all the ten cards we flipped them back over again. This time it was the students’ turn to pick the cards and give their friends some hints so they can guess which body part it is!

Library
In this week's library session, we read a story under the title ‘Ten Apples up on Top’. This book helped us to work on our counting skills in a fun and an engaging way.
“Seven is five and two” Hala
Literacy
For literacy this week we worked on identifying sounds with zoo-phonics and expanding vocabulary. We did this through an exciting hands-on activity where the children matched different objects with their beginning sounds. They all enjoyed the activity and requested for it to be done again!

Art
Our art activity was associated with the science topic ‘Body parts’. We created an activity where they got to draw and stick different materials to form their bodies, all were engaged and got the chance to improve fine motor skills and foster creativity.
Cooperative game
This week's cooperative game was musical chairs! Playing musical chairs in Early Pre-K class is more than just a fun activity; it holds significant developmental benefits for young children. It helps to improve gross motor skills, listening skills, social skills and problem solving.
Our class had an amazing time playing this game outdoors!
