Engaging Activities For Toddlers In Two Weeks
Dear parents,
We hope this blog finds you well! It has been a delightful two weeks in the toddlers class, filled with learning, bonding, and of course lots of fun. As a reminder, tomorrow (Saturday October 26) will be our first family day of the year, and the theme is international day. Please see the flyer we sent in the group chat for more information!
Large Group
Our large group sessions began with greetings and a discussion about the food we had for breakfast, which is a great way for students to increase their confidence in sharing about themselves, and helps us get to know each child better! After that, we sang the "Good Morning" song and took attendance. Then, we read the book "At the Park," which the class absolutely loved. We are so proud of them for being so engaged and focused!
Gymnastics
In our gymnastics session, we focused on enhancing flexibility and strength in both hands and legs. After our large group activities, we went outside the classroom. We took turns climbing, which helped strengthen their legs significantly. Climbing not only builds physical strength but also boosts confidence, hand-eye coordination and overall motor skills.
Literacy Activity: Finding Lid with a Spoon
Our literacy activity began outside the classroom with an engaging art setup. We explained to the kids that they would be finding leaves using spoons from a box of water. This fun and exciting activity helped develop their fine motor skills, teamwork, and hand-eye coordination. The children eagerly scooped up the leaves, enthusiastically calling out colors like, "I caught the green one!"
Afterward, we allotted a few minutes for cleanup, but the kids wanted more time to continue. Finally, we removed our art setup, wrapping up a joyful and productive session.
Art Activity: Creating Orange
Our art activity was fantastic and kept us busy! We started by setting up our art supplies and discussing the color orange. Each child received orange paper to cut into small pieces. Then, we provided glue on plastic plates for them to engage with as they stuck the paper pieces down. To finish their creations, they added a green leaf on top.
When they saw the final results, they excitedly exclaimed, “Orange”! It was a wonderful experience, and Neela said, “I want to show this to Mommy and Daddy”. When her mother arrived to pick her up, she ran over to proudly display her creativity.
Science Activity with Carrots
Our class embarked on an exciting science activity centered around cutting carrots. We ventured outside to a grassy area, creating a relaxed and open environment for learning. After gathering in a circle, we introduced the activity and encouraged the students to share plates with one another, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
As we began discussing the carrots, we highlighted their vibrant color and crunchy texture, sparking curiosity among the children. Each student received a carrot, and with careful guidance, they started cutting their own pieces. This hands-on experience not only made the learning process enjoyable but also helped them develop essential fine motor skills. It was wonderful to see them so engaged and focused, fully immersed in the activity.
Once they had cut and tasted their carrots, we took the experience a step further by allowing the children to feed the leftover pieces to some rabbits nearby. This connection to nature reinforced the lesson and taught them the importance of sharing and caring for animals.
Overall, the activity was a delightful blend of learning and fun, leaving the students excited about science and eager for more hands-on experiences in the future.
Library
During our recent library session, we started by singing some fun songs, creating an energetic atmosphere. After that, the teacher read an engaging book to the kids, capturing their attention and sparking their imaginations.
Once storytime was over, the children partnered up to choose books to read together. They were excited to select books to take home, allowing them to continue their reading adventures.
Our Math Activity: Color Matching Fun
Our recent math activity was both dazzling and engaging, showcasing the children's knowledge of colors. We laid out various colored materials on a mat and provided a box filled with matching colored paper. The students had a great time matching the materials to the corresponding colors.
This hands-on experience not only kept them focused but also helped them identify and reinforce their understanding of different colors. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the activity!
