First Week of December Learning and Adventure
Dear parents,
How was your week? Our week was a very enjoyable one, full of delight and educational exploration. We hope yours was great as well.
Large group
In our large group session, we kicked off the day with a warm and welcoming start! We began by sharing our morning routines and favorite breakfast choices. It was so much fun hearing what each child enjoys to start their day! Next, we sang our cheerful "Good Morning" song, filling the room with energy and excitement. After that, we took attendance and had a little chat about the day ahead.
We also discussed the weather and gave the children a fun task: they made arrows on our weather chart to show both the day of the week and the current weather. The highlight of our session was reading the book “Polite Cat”, which teaches important lessons about using polite words like "please" and "thank you". We encouraged the children to practice these words throughout the day, and they eagerly joined in, showing great enthusiasm! It was truly a lovely time, and the children participated so well. Their energy and eagerness to learn made the day even more special!
Small group
Art
In our art session, we explored the exciting world of cotton stamping, and it was a blast! The children started by selecting their favorite paint colors, then dropped cotton onto the paint. Afterward, they carefully placed the cotton on their paper. The real fun began when they used wooden blocks to gently hit the cotton, making the paint swirl and spread across the page in beautiful, unexpected patterns. It was amazing to see how focused and engaged the children were throughout the activity. Each child created a unique and colorful piece of art.
Cooperative game
In our cooperative game, the children had a great time playing a classic- Duck Duck Goose! We started by sitting in a circle, and one child stood up to lead the game. As they walked around the circle, they said “duck, duck, duck” until choosing a friend, saying “goose,” and then running around the circle. The child who was tagged as the goose stood up and tried to catch the runner before they could sit back down in their spot. It was a fun, energetic game that everyone enjoyed, and each student had a chance to take turns. It was wonderful to see the kids working together and cheering each other on!
Math
In our recent math session, we combined learning with a fun outdoor adventure! We went to the grass area and began by counting the different animals we had. To make the game more exciting, we then covered our eyes and hid the animals in various spots around the area. When we said, "Open your eyes, go find the animals!" The children then proceeded to eagerly search for the hidden animals. They were so excited when they found one, proudly exclaiming, "I found it!" It was a lively and active session that had everyone laughing and learning at the same time.
Clay
This week in our clay session, the children had a fantastic time exploring their creativity! They made all sorts of fun things, including houses, dinosaurs, cars, pizzas, and balls. It was amazing to see how each child brought their ideas to life with their hands. The excitement and focus in the room were contagious as they shaped and molded their creations.
Literacy
In our latest literacy session, we had an exciting time exploring the world of Zoo phonics! We started by learning the sounds, names, and motions of each letter from A to Z. Each letter was paired with a fun animal sound and a corresponding motion, making it easier for the children to connect with the alphabet in a playful and memorable way. Afterward, the children picked their favorite letters and proudly showed off their chosen letter's motion while making the sound. It was a fantastic way to reinforce letter recognition and phonics skills while keeping everyone engaged and active!
Science
In our recent science session, we had a blast experimenting with color mixing! Using different paints, the children learned how mixing one color with another creates new and exciting shades. They started by choosing their favorite paints and then mixed them together to see the magic happen! It was a hands-on experience where the children discovered how primary colors combine to form secondary colors, sparking creativity and curiosity. Not only did they have fun creating their unique colors, but they also gained a deeper understanding of the science behind color formation. It was a colorful and educational session that brought out the artists and scientists in everyone! We can’t wait to try more fun experiments in the future!
