Dear parents,

We had a wonderful week here at LE! We would like to wish you all a Happy Ethiopian New Year!

This week in large group

We had an amazing large group. Every morning we talked about how our mornings were and our class shares what they ate for breakfast and so on. After that we sang ‘Good Morning Song’, ‘Five Little Monkeys’, ‘Baby shark’ and ‘The wheels on the bus’ song. Then we did the attendance, we also read a book titled ‘Brown bear brown bear what do you see’.

Small group

Music

For our Music session, we explored with musical instruments, such as piyano, guitars, xylophone, and drum. Our children were very interested and happy to choose their own musical instruments. We open music and the children started playing the musical instruments.

Math

We First start our class by singing ‘color’ song then introduce the materials such as colored macaroni with bright blue, red, green, orange and on another plate, we used colored ear buds dipped with the same colors. After that we explored with the materials we have and observed if our class could match the earbuds with the colored macaroni. We challenged our small motors and were so excited to do this activity.

Gymnastics

In our gymnastics class when our class saw, our gymnastics teacher (Mr. Yonas) they were so excited and surprise. The class started with warming up our body and by walking around in our classroom and at the end we added stretching and roiling.

Literacy

In library class we first read ‘the animals’ book’ and we sing animals song like ‘Ali baba farm’ then we give scrambled animals puzzles after that we start to fix the puzzles.

Science

For the past 2 weeks, we were exploring with filling Textures, but this time we added more, like rice and macaroni our children had noticed what was added and also, they were using both their feet and hands to also feel the texture. We were also proud to hear them call out words saying soft, smooth, and hard.

Art

First week of art was all about making collage. We used different color papers and tear them in to pieces then we put them in a box, this week we used the collages and stick it on a paper that we prepared in previous class and they were happy and excited.

Reminder

In celebration of Ethiopian New year, On Monday we are celebrating the new year by wearing either Yellow or White! Please send your child wearing one color from the two!

Every Wednesday is art day, so places send your child with art appropriate clothing.

Every Thursday is library day, so we will be sending a book that your child picked from our library, which will be returned after a week on library day.
