Joyful Beginning: How Infants Learn Through Everyday Moments

Dear Parents,

Over the past two weeks, we have had a wonderful time in the infants class. The children participated in fun and exciting activities, engaging in hands-on experiences that sparked their curiosity and creativity. It was a joy to see them explore, learn, and enjoy every moment. Thank you for your continuous support—we look forward to more memorable experiences ahead! Please read on and enjoy our summary of what the class has been up to lately.

Large Group

Over the past two weeks, the infants have been actively participating in our large group sessions. We began each session by singing the "Good Morning" song, where the children enthusiastically waved their hands and greeted their friends and teachers with smiles and words. After our greeting, we introduced the music book, allowing the children to choose their favorite songs. They excitedly selected Baa Baa Black Sheep and The Wheels on the Bus, singing along and engaging with the actions. During attendance time, the children showed independence by sticking their own pictures onto the happy face, recognizing themselves and their friends. It was wonderful to see their growing confidence and sense of belonging in the classroom!

Gymnastics

During our gymnastics session, the children had a fantastic time practicing their jumping and walking skills using hula hoops on the grass area. We placed the hula hoops on the ground and demonstrated how to jump or walk through them. Each child took turns, showing their unique approach—some confidently jumped with both feet, while others carefully walked through the hoops with excitement. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, coordination, and growing confidence in movement!

Literacy and Language

Over the past two weeks, we continued our fun and engaging fruit and vegetable matching activity. The children quickly recognized the activity and showed great enthusiasm in participating. They eagerly matched the fruits and vegetables, demonstrating their growing recognition and understanding. It was wonderful to see their excitement, as many wanted to do the activity more than once! Their interest and joy in learning continue to shine, making each session a meaningful and enjoyable experience.

Art

During our art session, the children created beautiful sunflower paintings on canvas. They began by painting the background, exploring different brushstrokes and colors. Next, they painted a brown circle in the center to form the sunflower’s core. For the petals, they excitedly stuck yellow macaroni around the circle, adding texture to their artwork. Finally, they used green paint to create the stem and leaves. The children were fully engaged in the process, enjoying the combination of painting and sensory exploration. Their creativity shone through, and they were so proud of their sunflower masterpieces!

During our second-week art class, we created beautiful butterfly paintings. We started by having the children paint the background using a light yellow color and a sponge. Once the background was ready, we prepared sponges shaped like butterflies for stamping. Each child took turns choosing their favorite colors and painting the sponge. After applying the paint, they stamped their butterfly onto the canvas, creating unique and colorful designs. The children were very engaged in the process, enjoying both the painting and stamping steps. It was a fun and creative activity, and they were excited to see their butterflies come to life on the canvas.

Science

This week in science class, we continued our gardening project. The children were excited to see the colorful flowers blooming on their plants. First, they placed soil into their cans, creating a base for the flowers. Then, they carefully placed the flowers inside before adding more soil to secure them. Finally, they watered their plants, making sure each one had enough water to grow strong and healthy.

Math

During math class, we engaged the children in a fun and interactive counting activity using macaroni, play dough, and straws. First, we demonstrated the steps for them. The children began by placing play dough on the laminating paper, creating a stable base. Then, they carefully stuck a straw into the play dough. Once the straw was in place, they started threading macaroni onto it, one piece at a time. As they added each macaroni piece, they counted aloud, practicing their number recognition and fine motor skills. The children were excited and engaged throughout the activity, making learning both fun and hands-on!

Clay

During our clay session, we made turtles as a group, an idea inspired by the children's love for these animals. We have a turtle in our school compound, and every morning when they arrive, they excitedly greet it. During recess, they enjoy playing near the turtle and even feeding it. Since turtles are such a special part of their daily routine, we decided to bring this connection into our clay activity. The children did a wonderful job shaping their turtles, showing creativity and enthusiasm throughout the process. They were very happy with their work, and it was a joyful experience for everyone.
