Kindergartens week of Learning and Fun Adventures!

Dear Parents, We hope everyone has had an amazing week! As we wrap up our third week of the year, we’re excited to share the beautiful moments we’ve experienced together. From battling germs to personalizing our names, this week has been a whirlwind of creativity and exploration! Let’s dive into the highlights of our adventures.

Language and Literacy

This week, we focused on name recognition through various fun activities. During circle time, the kids practiced writing their names on the board, allowing everyone to recognize their own and their friends’ names. Next, we had a blast decorating printed block names with objects of their choice. Our final activity involved “invisible writing.” The children wrote their names with white crayon on A4 paper and revealed them using a big brush and watercolor paint. The excitement on their faces as they tried to read their names was priceless!

Math

In math, we had a sticky situation! The children experimented with various materials—like pom-poms, Popsicle sticks, clothespins, crayons, and rocks—trying to see what would stick to tape. They also practiced writing numbers up to ten and were so engaged that they didn’t want to stop! This activity was a fantastic way to assess their mathematical development.

Science

For our science exploration, we learned about germs and ways to combat them. We conducted an experiment using a bowl of water sprinkled with black pepper. When the kids squeezed soap from their fingers into the bowl, they were amazed to see how the pepper spread out, reinforcing that soap is a powerful tool against germs. We also explored the concept of ramps by sliding toys down them, helping the children understand how ramps can assist in lifting heavy objects.

Library

This week, we took our library session outdoors, allowing the kids to enjoy the sunny weather while diving into their favorite books. We also had an indoor reading session where we shared a story together, promoting a love for reading in a cozy environment.

Ethiopian Center

Our children had a fantastic time at the Ethiopian Center, where they engaged with cultural items. They enjoyed making coffee, trying on traditional costumes, attempting to make Injera, and dancing to Ethiopian Eskista songs. It was a truly enriching experience!

Art

In the art room, the kids mixed red and orange paints to create the color orange, which they then used for their painting projects. This was not only a fun activity but also a valuable learning experience about color mixing.
