Little Learners, Big Moments: A Two-Week Toddlers Class Adventure.

Dear Parents,

What a fantastic and enriching two weeks it has been with the Toddlers class! We hope you had some wonderful weeks as well. We’re excited to share the activities and experiences we had together, and we truly appreciate your continued support in this journey. Below, we’ve outlined the fun moments and valuable lessons that we enjoyed over the past two weeks. We hope you enjoy reading about everything we've accomplished and discovered as much as we did!

Large Group Session:

We begin our large group time with a "Hello" song, which helps set a welcoming tone. Then, we engage the children in a conversation about various topics, such as what color clothes they’re wearing, what foods they ate, how many brothers and sisters they have, and other similar questions. These discussions encourage the children to develop their communication skills and build confidence in speaking.

Next, we take attendance and read. Our recent book of focus has been one called "When I Was a Baby," which focuses on numbers and ages. This is a great opportunity to introduce the concept of numbers and incorporate them into the story. Finally, we wrap up the session by singing a song chosen by the children, allowing them to take part in selecting the music.

Literacy: Listening activity

Our literacy session focused on listening skills, which was both educational and exciting for the class! The teacher laminated different animal pictures and asked each child the name and sound of the animal, which surprised us since most of our children knew the names and how to make the sounds.

Afterwards, we played the sounds of different animals. We called the names of the children and put the animals and speakers in front of them. Then we played various animal sounds, and the children had to listen and find the matching animal. Our session was really helpful in developing their listening skills and identifying different animals.

Math Session: Exploring Numbers 3 and 4

In our math session, we continued exploring the numbers three and four. We started by reviewing the activities from our previous lessons, focusing on numbers one and two. This provided an opportunity to refresh our understanding, reinforce the concepts we had already learned, and prepare the class for what was coming.

After the revision, we introduced that day’s activity, which was designed to help the students better grasp the concept of counting and associating numbers with objects. The activity involved counting objects and placing them in the correct numbered position or a number line. This task was both interesting and stimulating, as the children focused fully taking turns counting the objects and ensuring they put the right number in the correct spot.

To make this more interactive and enjoyable, we used a variety of objects such as blocks, buttons, or small toys, and asked the students to count out three and four items at a time.

Art: Lemon Stamps

In our lively recent art session, we decided to try something new—lemon stamping on a canvas! The children were really excited as we set up all the materials we would need. We had canvases, colorful paints, tables, lemons, and mats ready. Each child got their own art space with a special art smock, which was like a little mat for them to work on. First, we explained the activity: we would use lemons to stamp different colors onto the canvas. The students were curious and ready to start!

We began by calling each child’s name and letting them pick a color they liked. They stamped the lemon on a piece of paper first to practice. Once they were ready, they dipped the lemon in the paint and stamped it onto their canvas. It was amazing to see how each child used the colors in their own way to make unique prints. The session was full of excitement and joy as the children explored their creativity and made beautiful lemon prints on their canvases. Everyone had a blast, and we’re so proud of our class full of artists!

Library

Our library session was held outside on the grass, where we laid mats down and surrounded ourselves with books, creating a refreshing and engaging atmosphere. The teacher began by reading a book aloud, and then the students took turns choosing books to read. They enjoyed reading both with their friends and on their own, staying actively engaged in the activity. The outdoor setting was a hit, as the students really liked the place. At the end of the session, each student selected a book to take home in their folder, adding a special touch to the experience.

Science

Our science activity was simply amazing- sensory, humorous, and active! The focus of the activity was on testing different smells and tastes. We set up mats and placed various items on the table, including common objects such as sugar, salt, lemon juice, banana, lemon, and rosemary. We also included some rarer spices and seasonings such as Ricinus communis, Ruta chalepensis, and lemon bee brush. Each student took turns smelling and tasting the different items. We encouraged them to express their reactions through facial expressions, and some even said "yummy" when they tasted something they liked. The activity was fun, full of excitement, and everyone had a great time exploring the different sensations!
