Our Amazing Two weeks Journey In Toddlers Class Room

Toddlers Class Weeks of Colors and Fun!

Dear parents, we hope this blog finds you well. The past two weeks in the toddlers class has been full of educational moments, engaging activities, playing with friends and so much more. We are so excited to share the highlights with you. As a reminder, next week on Thursday (October 17) and Friday (October 18) school will be closed for staff training.

Large Group: Green Week

Our large group sessions lately have been simply fantastic! As part of our color theme, our whiteboard was filled with green items. When Noam entered, he exclaimed, "Green time!" and Emma added, "A lot of green!". We started with our "Good Morning" song, took attendance, and discussed what they had for breakfast, the weather, the items on our whiteboard, and the colors of their clothing.

Gymnastics

Our gymnastics session was vibrant and active, focusing on developing the children's gross motor skills. We organized an outdoor activity on the grass, using more than five hula hoops and two chairs with a ball and goal. The children dazzled us by jumping through hula hoops, navigating around chairs, and kicking a ball toward a goal. We began by demonstrating jumping into the hula hoops and passing by  the chairs, followed by kicking the ball into the goal. The children were thrilled, taking turns, clapping, and counting as their friends jumped. It was an incredible experience, and we hope this activity supports their strength and overall physical development!

Science

Our science activity was both engaging and educational! Sitting outside on the grass created a nice atmosphere for the kids to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. We made sure to have the class wash their hands before the activity was a great hygiene practice. For this session, we introduced a food that goes along with our green theme- broccoli. The children had the chance to explore broccoli through touch, cutting, and tasting. This only helped with color identification but also developed their fine motor skills. The kids’ happiness and excitement are wonderful indicators of a successful learning experience!

Literacy

In our literacy activities, we focused on tracing with playdough. We started outside, laying laminated paper with lines on the mat, alongside various colors of playdough. Sitting in a circle, we introduced the activity, allowing the children to choose their favorite colors for tracing. They were highly engaged and even began creating shapes, with Lisa exclaiming, “Pizza!” This sparked communication among them, enhancing their language skills as they shared their ideas and creations. It was a wonderful way to combine literacy and play!

Art

In our art activity, we integrated a math session focused on the color green. We began by discussing the names of leaves and explaining the activity. Each child received a piece of white paper and a brush to apply glue. We paired the children up, giving each pair a small leaf to share, which encouraged teamwork and sharing. They then enthusiastically stuck the leaves onto their papers, showing great focus and engagement. Once finished, we added their pictures to the artwork. They truly loved the activity and we’re so proud of them!

Math

In our math activities, we continued exploring colors, with a special focus on green. We placed yellow, red, and green materials together and asked the children to search for and collect the green items. The activity was a hit; they were energetic and busy finding green objects. We also incorporated green balloons, which added to the excitement, and enjoyed dancing to a color song. It was a fun and engaging way to reinforce their understanding of colors!
