Our class in this week

Dear parents,

How was your week? We had amazing week in Early preschool and Preschool!

Large group

This week, we identified different fruits and vegetables in our large group sessions, and we had a great time learning about our students' favorites. Then, it was time sing our "Good Morning" song and the class favorite, the "Head, shoulders, knees and toes| song. Finally, we went back to our message board where we took attendance, went through days of the week and talked about the weather. We also read a book called "I have good manners", which is a funny engaging book with a great message! The children loved it.

Music

During our music session we had a lot of fun. We sang different songs including "Freeze and dance" , "Little bunny" , "Ali ba ba farm", and "Rain Rain go away". We explored different musical instruments as guitar, drums, piano and shakers.

Math

During our math session they colored different numbers and connected the dots. First, all the students practiced tracing numbers one by one on the board, then we gave them their worksheet and they chose their favorite color and colored and traced. Our students were very attentive. They did better than we expected. We had a great time.

Library

Our library session was wonderful. Our students read various books with their friends and they chose one to take home.

Science

During our science session we explored with shaving foam. We used our table in our experiment. At first some kids were of afraid in touching the foam. Eventually they started slightly touching it with their finger until they fully submerged their hand in it. Next, we put their favorite paint on the shaving cream and they started to blend them together. They were surprised by the discoloration of the shaving foam. Then we talked about how the color and how it feels on our hand, is it soft, is it rough , is it bumpy? They were super enthusiastic.

Art

During our art session we made thread art on our canvas. First, they cut different colored threads with scissors and cut them to the length they wanted. Then they mixed it with the glue and stuck it on the canvas in the way they wanted. Our class were very engaged doing this art work. We had a lot of fun. Almost all the students were following the steps.

Literacy

During our literacy session, we worked on our journal. Our students drew their favorite things in their books using different colors.

Ethiopian Center

In our Ethiopian center, we explored various Ethiopian items. We saw different musical instruments such as drums, flutes, and Kirar (Ethiopian traditional Guitar). Next, our students took turns making coffee and cooking food for us. We had an amazing time.
