Our Pre-K This week!

Greetings Dear parents,

We had a wonderful and an active week! We spent our week doing so many exciting activities that the children really enjoyed and learn through. We Hope you had an exciting week as well.

Our large group

Our large group session was filled with lots of fun. After exploring with free choice corners, we start our large group by singing the good morning song. This is an exciting moment for our friends! Telling the day’s weather and adjusting the calendar! We count the month, the date and the year. We all look outside the window and sing ‘What is the weather?’ song and we enjoyed telling the day’s weather. Our children loved having the pointer and counting the date with their friends turn by turn.

Story time: This week the children choose a story titled ‘The gingerbread man’ to be read for a week. It is all about a man who comes to life after being tossed into the oven and runs as fast as he can to escape whoever tries to catch him. Our little friends really love listing to the story and they were saying many things in the middle of the story like

“Why is he so fast?”

“Noone is gonna catch him”

“He never gets tired”

“Hmm the fox is so smart!”

Caterpillar: Our caterpillar marks the 15th day of school!

Our small group

Our small group activities this week were Music, Literacy, Math, Library and Science.

Music, Listening to and creating music helps children learn numeracy, literacy and emotional skills. It helps the body and mind work together! We were dancing, jumping and really had fun with the songs that the children chose .

Literacy, as we revised the zoo phonics roughly last week, we proceed to practice some zoo phonics this week Aa, Bb,Cc ,Dd ,Ee ,Ff and Gg with their right phoneme. The children were making different words out of the sounds of letters

“C for car! I have a police car!”

“ D for duck!”

“E for egg! I ate egg for my breakfast.”

“F for full! My tummy is full!”

Math this week, counting helps the kids’ learn the right sequence of the numbers! We keep counting numbers with tally marks using different colorful materials that the children love to learn with. For this week, we gave them colorful pipe cleaners and when we write the numbers with their tallies on the board, they were making it with their material. The children were trying to identify the number when they put the slash mark. “1,2,3,4 –oh! Number 5 shuts the door!”

We are going to keep the same activity for the next week by counting and making tallies from 1 to 15.

Our special: Our plan didn’t go according to the schedule so we made some changes to our schedule and we did gymnastic instead of our art class. All the kids enjoy the gymnastic class with our teacher. We were doing simple and relaxing activities like rolling, running around, jumping and balancing. Some of our children had funny conversations which put a smile on our face.

“Look I’m flying!”

“Can I also fly please?”

In our art special : During our art class, we gave our little ones their pictures to paste on the paper and tell us how they stick it on the paper. Some put it in the middle and some of them on the top. After pasting on the paper we let them cut basic lines like zigzag, curve and straight line. Some children took their time to color the lines with different colors. After cutting out and coloring the lines, they made a frame for their pictures by sticking the lines around their pictures. It was such heartwarming to see them making a frame for their pictures!
