Our Week In Early preschool and Preschool

Dear Parents,

We hope you have had a lovely week! We want to once again wish you all a very happy Ethiopian New Year. It has been a fun and festive week in Early Preschool, and we’re very excited to share all the highlights with you.

Art

This week our art session was a splash of fun and creativity as we delved into a hand painting activity with our young artists. The focus of the day was the color blue, chosen enthusiastically by the children  as their favorite paint. Each child dipped their hands into the vibrant blue paint, savoring the cool, smooth texture. With excitement building, they pressed their painted hands onto white paper, creating a series of unique and colorful handprints.

The engagement and happiness in the room were palpable! The children’s faces lit up with joy as they observed their handprints emerging on the paper. This simple activity not only allowed them to explore the joys of painting but also gave them a chance to see their artistic efforts come to life. Seeing their creations brought immense satisfaction and pride to the little artists. It was a heartwarming reminder of how such activities can be both engaging and rewarding, nurturing their creativity and self-expression. We can’t wait to see what they will continue to create in the coming week.

Library

Our library session was delightful. Everyone had fun reading a book and choosing a book to take home!

As a reminder, please remember to send your child’s library folder every Monday so they can take a new book home.

Literacy

Our literacy session was a vibrant exploration of creativity and self-expression through journaling. We prepared  journal books and colors for our students, setting the stage for a colorful activity. We began by asking the children what they wanted to draw, encouraging them to describe their ideas in detail. Their responses were imaginative and thoughtful, showcasing their ability to articulate their creative visions. With their ideas in mind, we handed out their journal books and favorite colors. The students were deeply focused as they used the different colors to bring their drawings to life, creating a range of colorful and expressive illustrations.

Gymnastics

This week in our gymnastics session we had a balancing activity which is a fun way to develop gross motor skills, coordination and body awareness.

We also did another activity which is moving musical dots from one spot to the other while holding a plank position. This activity not only challenges children’s physical abilities but also their coordination and focus. The children all did a fantastic job and were very engaged with both activities!

Ethiopian Center

What a time it was in the Ethiopian center this week! We started off by talking about what the center is and what are the things that we could do in it. After that, everyone headed to proceed with the plan they have, some got busy making coffee, others were exploring the traditional musical instruments and some were having fun putting some traditional clothes on. We ended our session by practicing the “Abebayehosh” song getting ready for our Meskel celebration.

It has been a wonderful week in Early Preschool, and we’re so glad to see the class’s creativity flourishing.
