Dear parents,

We hope you’ve had a fantastic week! Our Early Pre-K class was full of energy and curiosity as they explored a week of hands-on learning, creativity, and new discoveries. From math and science to art, every activity was designed to spark their imaginations while strengthening key skills like patterning, vocabulary, and problem-solving. Read on to see the exciting moments that made your child’s week unforgettable!

Large Group

This week’s large group sessions were a perfect mix of fun and learning! We dove into the letter “h”—practicing its sound and discovering new words that start with it. During morning messages, the class loved choosing a number and creating tally marks together, boosting both their fine motor skills and number recognition.

In math, we introduced the number “8” through counting games and hands-on activities. The students also explored 3D shapes like cubes and cones, making connections between everyday objects and their geometric forms.

Math

In this week's math session, the children were fully immersed in an interactive activity that not only made learning fun but also enhanced their understanding of numbers. We introduced the concept of tally counting using pom pom sticks, which sparked curiosity and excitement among the students.

To begin the session, we utilized sticks as teaching aids to demonstrate numbers 1 to 5. The visual representation helped the children grasp the concept of counting in a simple yet effective manner. After familiarizing themselves with the numbers, each child was asked to choose their favorite number to work with. With their selected number in mind, the children eagerly grabbed their pom pom sticks and took turns creating a tally. The joy and enthusiasm in the room were palpable as the children concentrated on their counting, making sure to accurately represent their chosen number.

Science

In our classroom filled with eager young minds, this week we embarked on a journey to unravel the mysteries of autumn. The air was filled with excitement as children gathered around, ready to delve into the beauty of the changing seasons. With colorful flashcards in hand, we embarked on a discussion about the enchanting season of autumn. As each child shared their thoughts, their eyes lit up with wonder and curiosity. They spoke of cool breezes, vibrant leaves, and the earthy scent that lingers in the air during this magical time of year.

One by one, the children pointed to the flashcards depicting trees with leaves that had turned a rich shade of brown and yellow.

As we delved deeper into our exploration of autumn, the children learned about the importance of raking leaves. With great enthusiasm, they shared how people come together to collect the fallen leaves. Through this act, they understood the significance of caring for our environment and working together to keep our surroundings clean and healthy. As the science session came to a close, the children were brimming with newfound knowledge and a sense of accomplishment, armed with their flashcards and a newfound appreciation for the wonders of autumn.

Art

We are continuously amazed by the creativity and talent that our young artists possess. Last week, our students embarked on a journey to explore the beauty of nature's changing seasons through art. This week, we are thrilled to share with you the progress of our ongoing collaborative artwork, where children painted the autumn and spring portions after completing the summer and winter sections.

As we moved on to the autumn and spring sections, the children embraced the changing colors and transitions that come with these seasons. The autumn portion showcased a mesmerizing display of brown, oranges, and yellows, as leaves fell gently from the trees. In contrast, the spring section burst with new life and hope, with budding flowers, green grass. Throughout this project, our students not only honed their artistic skills but also learned valuable lessons about the cycle of nature and the beauty of change. They worked collaboratively, sharing ideas and techniques with each other, building a sense of teamwork and camaraderie.

Gymnastics

This week, our young gymnasts had a fantastic time challenging themselves and pushing their limits in a safe and supportive environment. The session began with a unique activity where the children were tasked with performing a balance walk with their eyes closed. This exercise not only tested their physical coordination and balance but also their focus and awareness. It was heartwarming to see how they embraced the challenge and encouraged each other throughout the activity.

As the main highlight of the session, the children engaged in an exhilarating over-arch activity. This advanced move required them to bend backward in a graceful arch, showcasing their flexibility and strength. With guidance from the teacher, the children were able to master the technique and execute the over-arch with confidence.

Overall, the gymnastics session was a resounding success, and we are incredibly proud of the progress and enthusiasm displayed by each child. We believe that these activities not only help in physical development but also foster important skills such as determination, and resilience.
